I believe that lessons and curricula should be tailored to the goals and strengths of the student and I individualize lessons to ensure that you reach your goal while acquiring the necessary technique and theory that will allow you to go further if you wish to do so.
Click Here to View Recordings and PerformancesMs. Chang holds a Master of Music degree in Piano Performance from Indiana University’s world-renowned Jacobs School of Music, where she studied with Pro. Shigeo Neriki on a special merit scholarship. Over the years, she has also had the opportunity to study under the pianists Paul Badura-Skoda as part of his Weimar Master Classes and Pro. Emile Naoumoff.
During her time at the Jacobs School of Music, she expanded the breadth of her experience to include Jazz Theory, Jazz Improvisation, Choir, Collaborative Performance, and Music History. Indiana University also provided Ms. Chang with many opportunities to accompany both professors and graduate students, as well as teach and accompany in elementary schools and ballet classes.
For over 10 years, Ms. Chang has taught students from ages 4 to 64 in one-on-one and group music lessons. She has experience both helping students prepare for competitions and reaching personal goals of playing a favorite piece of music.
Professionally, Ms. Chang worked with the International School of Music for nearly five years before devoting all her teaching efforts to her own studio. As an accompanist, she has collaborated with professional orchestras, various ensembles, schools, and religious institutions around the Washington, DC metro area. Of special note are her years of experience working as an accompanist on staff at the Strathmore Music Center.
Throughout her career, Ms. Chang has performed in ensemble and solo in multiple international venues, including on violin as part of an orchestra in a performance for Pope John Paul II. Additionally, she has appeared in several orchestra concerts held in Taichung City and Taipei National Music Hall in beautiful Taiwan. Ms. Chang is originally from Taiwan.
